Khartoum,Feb 3(SUNA)- The Government of Sudan, represented by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, signed two cooperation agreements with the Government of Japan ,Wednesday at the Ministry of Finance to implement two projects by the Japanese government in cooperation with the Government of Sudan.

Acting Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. Dr. Heba Mohamed Ali explained to (SUNA) that the first project that would be implemented in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, as the first phase of this project (solid waste management improvements in Khartoum State) was carried out in 2016.

The second phase of the project , value of 11.8 million US dollars is aimed at providing more garbage collection related equipment to create clean cities, which will cover North Kordofan and the Red Sea states.

She pointed out that the second project signed Today is the grant aid to the health sector under the scheme of Japan (Economic and Social Development Programme) in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Health . The grant totaling 2.9 million US dollars will provide 60 ambulance and refrigerated vehicles for vaccine transportation.

The Japanese ambassador to Khartoum, Mr. Hattori Takashi, who signed on behalf of his country in the presence of the Director of the Japanese Cooperation Organization (JICA), stressed the depth of relations between Sudan and Japan, noting that the two projects embody the cooperation of the two countries in the fields of environment and public health. He said that Japan, as a Sudan development partner has a long history of cooperation with Khartoum, reiterated his country commitment to support efforts of Government to implement these projects. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministries, who prepared these projects and organized the event.
